Education - Workforce Development Committee
Advancing economic prosperity requires a strong partnership between the business community and educational leaders.  This committee engages in programs that help provide a more qualified, ready-to-work employee base and provides support and recognition to our education providers. 

Meets bi-monthly on the 2nd Tuesday of the month from 8:15 a.m. - 9:15 a.m. at the Chamber Office (701 Craven Street).

Governmental Affairs
This committee is focused on providing learning opportunities about business issues, candidates and the political process.  The Beaufort Regional Chamber is committed to developing a high-quality, business friendly environment for new and existing businesses in our county and region.  Strengthening our business climate requires educating our members and the public about issues and advocacy at the local, state and federal levels.  The Chamber uses four guiding principles when taking a position: Maintain and grow opportunities for Beaufort County businesses; Reduce the cost of doing business; Manage growth so that infrastructure is not strained and marketability of the area is not threatened; Increase the qualified workforce.

The committee meets on an as needed basis.

Growth & Infrastructure Committee

This committee aims to affect policy and provide educational opportunities on managing growth issues so that the marketability of the area is not threatened, including but not limited to, concerns about infrastructure improvements.  Beaufort County has seen unprecedented growth and attributes that to its quality of life and unparalleled beauty.  But growth can endanger the very things that make the area so desirable.   The Growth and Infrastructure committee provides a venue for discussion on these difficult issues.  Issues of concern include streamlining permitting and zoning changes, having input into the County’s comprehensive plan, providing workforce housing and funding infrastructure needs such as roads and parking.

Military Affairs

This committee works at the state and federal level to encourage protection and enhancement of all three military installations in the Beaufort area.  The Military Affairs Committee supports the activities that protect and enhance the military installations in Beaufort County, and improve the quality of life military families in the region.

Military Enhancement Committee

The Military Enhancement Committee (MEC) is a board housed under the Beaufort Regional Chamber of Commerce to address military issues at the critical junctures at the national level.  The MEC typically champions the community and its bases during the BRAC process and is currently promoting the community during the decision-making process for the locations of the F35B training and operational squadrons

Small Business & Entrepreurship

This committee works to provide resources for small businesses to operate more effectively as as develop a high-quality business environment that stimulates new business growth.  The committee constantly looks for ideas to help businesses perform better, and to improve the overall business climate.

Tourism, Travel & Convention Division Advisory Committee

The TTCD Advisory Committee oversees the Division in their effort to increase overnight leisure visits in northern Beaufort County.  The TTCD is responsible for the development of tourism, travel and conventions through appropriate state, national and international advertising and promotion.  The committee works to develop and promote Beaufort, Port Royal and the Sea Islands as a year-round destination of choice for those interested in authentic experiences and visitors attracted by events, cultural diversity and warm hospitality.  Whenever possible, the TTCD works to leverage local financial and human resources with those provided by or through local governments and departments of the State of South Carolina.
