A NOTE FROM THE PRESIDENT 9.6.16

We hope that you all had a safe and wonderful Labor Day weekend. We are fortunate that Hurricane Hermine only caused minimal damage, and that the sun came out on Saturday and gave us a beautiful weekend. The weather this past Friday is certainly a reminder to all of us of how important it is for your business to have an emergency plan in place in the event of hazardous weather. The Beaufort Regional Chamber of Commerce is here to serve you and help you. Please contact us if we can be of help in assisting you in your safety and emergency planning.

I would like to highlight a recent success story of a longstanding Chamber member, Harris Pillow Supply. In order to meet their growing demand, Harris Pillow Supply is expanding their current capabilities and will be relocating to an existing building more suitable for their growth. Their headquarters will now fill a vacant building with a vibrant and growing manufacturing company. Their current location, 3026 Trask Parkway, has recently been identified as being part of a key battleground during the American Revolutionary War. The Battle of Beaufort, also known as the Battle of Port Royal Island, was fought on February 3, 1779 on this site. As the Designated Marketing Organization, we will be so pleased to tour the soon to be memorialized battlefield.

As Beaufort County’s economic development partner for the past year, the Beaufort Regional Chamber was so pleased to assist with the expansion of a homegrown business. The Harris Pillow Supply company will be creating 25 new jobs over the next 5 years, and purchasing new equipment and giving new life to an empty building. What a remarkable example of business retention and expansion, an initiative our Chamber has championed for years.
All The Best,
