We asked and you responded! Thank you to everyone who provided their ‘two cents’ by taking part in the recent Capital Penny Tax Referendum survey. Our membership showed a favorable response to the Capital Improvement Project List. The Chamber Board of Directors recently met and unanimously voted to take a position of support. We ask that you take this into consideration and vote ‘Yes’ to the Capital Projects Sales Tax on November 8.

It is certainly a busy time of year at the Chamber! We enjoyed seeing so many of you at the Local First Business Expo this past Thursday. The Expo had a huge turnout, and a wonderful time was had by all. This week, we encourage you to join us on Thursday, September 29 at 8:30 a.m. at the Chamber offices for the South Carolina Chamber Grassroots Discussion. The South Carolina Chamber’s Public Policy staff will give a legislative review before moving into an open discussion of legislative issues our community believes must be addressed. Please bring compelling issues which will help develop the Chamber’s Competitiveness Agenda.

We can’t wait to see you this weekend at the 22nd Annual Beaufort Shrimp Festival! The festival kicks off on Friday night at 6:00 p.m. with live entertainment, an Arts & Crafts Market, and delicious shrimp dishes from 15 local restaurants. The fun continues on Saturday at 8:00 a.m. with the Run Forrest Run 5k Bridge Run/Walk followed by more live entertainment and various competitions. This is one of my favorite weekends in Beaufort! Bring the family and come out and ‘Savor The Shrimp!’
All The Best,

Blakely Williams
