A NOTE FROM THE PRESIDENT 2.2.16

Untitled-2This past week, we were thrilled to see the Senate begin working toward a compromise on funding our state’s roads and bridges.  The compromise discussions are focused on funding, tax relief, and reform.  While in Columbia last Tuesday, several members of our Chamber leadership team attended the Senate Finance Committee as they discussed this crucial issue impacting our region and state.

While in Columbia, we had the opportunity to meet with many of our State Elected Officials, advocating for issues you told us were important to you and your business including roads and infrastructure reform, support for the sale and redevelopment of the Port of Port Royal, creation of the Jasper Ocean Terminal, job creation, beach renourishment at Hunting Island State Park, and many other important issues. We also met with the Department of Commerce and attended the South Carolina Chamber of Commerce’s Business Speaks Event.

While you are busy at your place of work, know your Chamber continues to work behind the scenes to help you, your business and this region prosper.  It takes all of us working together and I thank you for your continued support.

As you know, our elected officials play an important part in the future of this region.  With that said, I want to remind those eligible to vote in today’s special election for Beaufort County School Board District 2, to take the time to vote if you haven’t already.

All the best,

blakely
