Election Day is just one week from today! While the Chamber is non-partisan- we focus on issues and do not endorse specific candidates- we encourage the citizens of Beaufort, Port Royal and the Sea Islands to be engaged in the upcoming election, and to exercise their right to vote.

Thank you to those of you who gave us your “two cents” by taking our Capital Penny Tax Referendum survey back in September. Our membership showed a favorable response to the Capital Improvement Project List. As such, the Chamber Board of Directors unanimously voted to take a position of support. We ask that you take this into consideration and vote ‘Yes’ to the Capital Projects Sales Tax on November 8. Please visit the Election Center page on our website for more information on the Capital Penny Tax and to read profiles on the candidates running for local office.

Be on the lookout for the 2017 Legislative Survey that we will be sending out in the next week. We ask that you take the time to thoughtfully complete the questions on the issues our local and regional communities face. The Legislative Survey is so important as it helps us identify the priorities of our membership and guide us on where to focus our attention and efforts. And, by taking the survey, you will be entered to win a special prize from us.

We hope to see you tomorrow morning, November 2, at 8:00 a.m. for our Business for Breakfast meeting at the Best Western Sea Island Inn. Deidri Garrett, HR Consultant for WebsterRogers, will be the featured speaker and will present on the New Overtime Rule taking effect on December 1, 2016. This will certainly be a worthwhile event for employers. See you there!
All The Best,

Blakely Williams
