welcome to parris island.

Marine recruits come to Beaufort to be trained, tested and transformed into the world’s fiercest fighting force.

Economic Impact

The three local military installations represent Beaufort County’s biggest economic impact. Reaching $2.4 billion in 2018, the men and women of the Tri-Command have a substantial influence within the Beaufort area. Naval Hospital Beaufort, Marine Corps Recruit Depot Parris Island and the Marine Corps Air Station are home to more than 14,000 military personnel.

Military Installations

The transformation from civilian to Marine is accomplished at the Marine Corps Recruit Depot Parris Island. MCRD Parris Island trains 49 percent of the males and 100 percent of the females entering the Marine Corps. Marine Corps Air Station Beaufort supports the 2nd Marine Aircraft Wing; it is home to both F/A-18 fighter-attack squadrons and the F-35 training command. Commissioned in 1949, Naval Hospital Beaufort consists of the hospital itself and two branch clinics at MRCD and MCAS.

Committiees

The Military Enhancement Committee and the Military Affairs Committee seek to enhance the lives of those who fight for our freedom. The MEC communicates with the community and defends the safety of the military installations, while the MAC supports activities and gatherings of the active and retired military.
