A NOTE FROM THE PRESIDENT 1.12.16

As the South Carolina General Assembly goes back into session today, there are a number of important issues facing our state and region. Based on your feedback through the Legislative Survey, we have a full Agenda for 2016.

This year, we will be strongly advocating for beach renourishment at Hunting Island State Park. As you all know, Hunting Island ranked #7 on Trip Advisor’s Best Beaches list and is the only public beach access in Northern Beaufort County. We take pride in being America’s Happiest Seaside Town and will not stand by and watch this treasured coast wash away.

As you know, we have joined our voices with many across the great state of South Carolina to ask the General Assembly to address our crumbling roads and dangerous bridges. We all know that in business, time is money. When trucks are sitting on our interstates, unable to move product or to deliver tourists safely & quickly, businesses and visitors will find other places to go. We can’t let that to happen and will be advocating for better and safer roads.

We have big plans for 2016 (click here) and will need your help in Beaufort, Port Royal, Columbia and Washington D.C. to accomplish these goals.

We recognize that policy decisions made by elected officials directly impact your business success. We were proud to have a great crowd with us this past week for our 2016 Legislative Luncheon at Callawassie Island Club. It was an honor to have U.S. Senator Tim Scott with us for this special event as well many of our State Elected Officials including Senator Tom Davis, Representative Bill Bowers, Representative Jeff Bradley, Representative Shannon Erickson, and Representative Kenneth Hodges.

Thanks to the County Channel, you can click here to watch the event.

Thank you for your support as we work together to create the preferred community to invest, prosper and enjoy.

All the Best,

Blakely Williams,
President & CEO
